Mardi Gras! Galveston is the third largest Mardi Gras celebration in the United States. Over 300,000 bead seekers descend on the island during the 10 day carnival season.
Lone Star Rally
The Lone Star Rally attracts over 500,000 motorcycle enthusiasts during the four-day rally. The rally is typically held the first weekend in November.
Dickens on the Strand
Galveston’s world famous Victorian holiday festival is held the first weekend of December. The annual holiday street festival is set against the historical backdrop of Galveston’s Strand Historic District. Participants dressed in Victorian fashion are admitted for ½ price.
For over 25 years, the Galveston Arts Center has sponsored ArtWalk on Saturday nights from 6-9 PM in the heart of the Strand Historic District. ArtWalk is held about every six weeks.
Visitors stroll from gallery to gallery and the fun spills out into the streets, with food and drink vendors lining the sidewalk.
ArtWalk showcases rotating, original, contemporary art.
